Nuclear Free Collective Chernobyl commemoration and AUKUS & ANFA important updates at Stapley Pavillion

*VENUE CHANGE TO STAPLEY PAVILLION, near Sydney Meyer Music bowl*
April 26 is a big day in nuclear terms. We commemorate 38 years since the Chernobyl reactor melt-down in Ukraine, causing hundreds of thousands of people to remain evacuated, 40.000 fatal cancers and over 5 million living still in contaminated areas.
We will also give an update on the Senate inquiry on the Naval Power Bill (proposing to give Defense absolute powers to name and control nuclear submarines and waste sites without public consultation) The commission is expected to give its recommendations on May 13.
There will also be a representative on the night talking about the current Jabiluka mining license and its potential extension and what that means for the Mirrar Traditional Owners of that land.
And we will go through the Aboriginal-led Australian Nuclear Free Alliance (ANFA) of whom Uncle Kevin Buzzacott was one of the founders annual statement.
Friends of the Earth's Nuclear Free Collective will be reporting back on all these issues and bring in dinner.
We look forward to seeing you and your friends there!
