Nuclear accident plume map

FoE Melb nuclear plume map

What would be the consequence of a nuclear accident in Australia? A new website lets you choose one of Peter Dutton’s proposed reactor sites to see how a nuclear disaster would contaminate surrounding areas.  Almost 200,000 Australians would be at risk of a nuclear accident if the Coalition's proposed nuclear scheme goes ahead, according to new research released today by Don’t Nuke the Climate.  Read more.

Snow Gum summit 2025 recap

Snow Gum summit bush walk

Here’s a heartening recap from the first Snow Gum summit  2025, a fantastic weekend bringing academics, First Peoples, land managers and environmental campaigners together.  Snow gums are the iconic trees of the Australian high country. Like the coral reefs they face an existential threat due to the impacts of climate change. More regular and intense fires and dieback, which is caused by a beetle, are causing localised ecological collapse of these forests. The forum looked into the scale of the threat and possible solutions, generating the Snow Gum forests declaration available here, to urge governments to immediately fund solutions to combat threats to snow gum survival.

Protect our threatened snow gums, email the Victorian environment minister here, and you can join our Forest Collective here to help organise events like this.

It was a huge day of bringing people together from across Victoria to share and learn from each other about the climate impacts already affecting communities and how we can keep each other safe.  Read more & pics.
