It's a tumultuous time for renewable energy in Australia.
After our long running grassroots campaign, the Daniel Andrews government has legislated a Victorian Renewable Energy Target that will create thousands of good jobs while cutting polluting fossil fuels.
On the other, the Federal Coalition government has mounted an unrelenting attack on states leading on renewable energy, and is trying to force them sign up to a dodgy energy policy - the so-called 'National Energy Guarantee' - that would send renewable energy investment off a cliff.
Friends of the Earth's Yes 2 Renewables campaign for 100% renewable energy in Victoria (ASAP!) has been in the thick of it since 2010—defending renewable energy from attacks and championing policies to grow them.
The wins we've helped secure in Victoria, and strong defense of renewables wouldn't have occurred without Yes 2 Renewables' dogged campaigning.
We're geared up to push for more good outcomes. But we need your help to keep the campaign going from strength to strength.
Your contributions will ensure that Friends of the Earth's Yes 2 Renewables campaign is a force for good outcomes.
Yes 2 Renewables punch above its weight when it comes to renewable energy advocacy. Over the next 12 months we will be working to:
- Defend the Victorian Renewable Energy Target from climate change deniers in Parliament.
- Launch a new campaign to power Victoria's public transport with 100% renewable energy to create thousands of sustainable jobs.
- Support Victorian communities aiming for 100% renewable energy, such as Woodend and Yackandandah, and engage with the Victorian Parliament's inquiry into community energy.
