Friends of the Earth has been hosting work days and field trips in the Wombat forest with representatives from the Galk-galk Dhelkunya (forest gardening) team at DJAARA in recent years.
These are a good chance to meet and chat with members of the team, ask questions about Djaara aspirations for the forest, and contribute some practical solidarity.
The next work trip will happen on Friday Aug 8, 2025 from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
It will be at the test site in the Wombat, managed by Djaara (just south of Daylesford, near Leonards Hill).
We will most likely be cutting out gorse again, so please wear suitable clothing and bring gloves and hand tools if you have them.
Also, bring water and snacks and check the weather to make sure you’re dressed for the conditions.
There is no cost for joining these trips.
We will meet at 9.40am at the Sailors Falls picnic area, where we can rationalise cars a bit and there are some public toilets, then drive the 10 mins to the site. The site is accessible via a good dirt track, suitable for 2WD vehicles. If its especially wet, we may need to reconsider our options.
If you would like to arrange a ride or can offer a lift please let Cam know by the end of July. [email protected]
