SKAT's 1st Online Meeting for 2022

Come and join us online for our first monthly SKAT collective meeting for 2022 talking all things KOALA!

We are calling out to those of you that are interested in helping us to better understand and protect the endemic and genetically robust Strzelecki/South Gippsland Koala. To touch-base with you all we will provide our latest campaign updates, and share with you our vision for 2022 so that we can continue to campaign for legislative protection of this at-risk but genetically diverse koala population, whilst helping to secure their habitat and better understand this koala through surveying and citizen-science. Join us so that together we can support our ambition to protect our beloved koala. We want to hear your concerns, and welcome your contributions!

We believe that this species of koala may be able to better withstand climate change and disease due to its genetic diversity. We believe that there may be as few as 2,000 Strzelecki/South Gippsland koalas remaining in the South Gippsland region so we want to grow and build awareness behind the importance and need for protection of this koala whilst also advocating for the sustained koala population of Victoria.

We are hoping to build our own team of volunteers to contribute to our SKAT Collective so that we can come together and help our unique koala. Does this interest you, or do you know someone that might like to help us out?

If you love our fuzzy, dopey, warm national icon and want to know how you can help us to continue our work to advocate for these at risk koala species, come along and join us each month on the first Thursday.
