Yoorrook Justice Commission invites you to be part of the Walk for Truth from Portland to Parliament. Starting on Sunday 25 May on Gunditjmara Country at Portland, the Walk will finish at Parliament House on Wednesday 18 June.  “This powerful journey aims to bring everyone together to walk toward truth, celebrate the strength and resistance of Aboriginal people, and be proud to have the oldest living culture in the world as ours”.

FoE publicly supports the Victorian Treaty process and we encourage our members and supporters who have the ability to do so to join the walk.  Further details and register with the Commission for the walk here

FoE intends to walk the Warrnambool to Colac section (May 30 – 1 June) and join the last day from Footscray to the city (June 16). If you would like to walk with the FoE folks, then please let us know.  Full details here

Stay engaged - we have lots to do

In a world where creating division and keeping people individuated and isolated are the key tactics of the right wing, cultivating community and meaningful participation in democracy is our best defence. We hope you can continue to support us as we uproot systems, nurture community and cultivate change.  Please consider supporting FoE with a tax-deductible donation so we can continue our work and make sure that the Labor Government doesn’t give in to complacency around the issues impacting communities and the environment. Encourage your friends to sign up for our newsletter so they can get involved in our campaigns. Thanks as always for your generous support, Cam Walker.

Australia votes against division

no nuclear election activists

In the federal election, Australians were offered a clear choice between competent governance and social inclusion or divisive politics. They decisively chose the former.  While this election was ostensibly focused on cost of living pressures, it was, in many ways, about the very spirit of the country. Trump-influenced right-wing populism was hardwired into the Coalition’s platform. Leader Peter Dutton lifted tactics directly from the Trump playbook. Apart from driving division over things like Welcome to Country, the Coalition’s energy agenda was deeply regressive, focused on promoting nuclear power, coal and gas, and opposition to the renewable energy transition.  Prime Minister Albanese now has a clear mandate to get on with the job with the shift to renewable energy. This is not a piecemeal task - it is a huge opportunity that needs more ambition.  You can read our full reaction here. Also, see our post-election energy debrief here.

FoE's anti-nuclear campaign is celebrating the strong rejection of nuclear power at the federal election. FoE, as a key actor of the Don't Nuke the Climate campaign, noted in a media release that there was “overwhelming evidence” that the Coalition’s promotion of nuclear power costs it dearly in the election. The Murdoch press released polling results prior to the election showing that the nuclear power policy was “driving a collapse in the Coalition’s primary vote in marginal seats across Australia.”
Thanks to everyone that helped us get there.  Please support our work.

Unfortunately we were unable to help. Our limited capacity is concentrated on the Strzelecki region.  Read more.
