After 2 years of campaigning for Better Buses, we are seeing huge momentum building at the community and industry level. With peak bodies such as Committee For Melbourne and Infrastructure Victoria joining the call for bus reform, we are reaching a crucial point in our campaign where the voices of the community need to come together and demand transformation of our bus network that will serve community needs.
Our successful rally for bus reform in May this year showed the government that the community are behind this campaign.
Now we need to come together and develop a strategy to win bus reform in this term of government.
As the government attempts to kick route reform down the line, using their changes to the contracting process as a scapegoat, we have an opportunity to demand that they focus their attention on prioritising route reform in the West, but we need to work together!
When & Where
Thursday October 12th, 5pm - 8pm
Dinner will be provided :)
We are still working on the agenda, but expect part of the day to be strategy focused, and part to be focused on training/skillshares to strengthen our movement and enable us to demand better buses in the most effective way possible. We will be seeking feedback from participants in the lead up regarding what kind of training will be the most useful for you/ your group, so expect to hear from us!
Can't wait to see you there!
This event will be taking place on unceded First Nations land. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded, and pay respects to the elders past and present, and to any First Nations people who chose to join us for this event. We acknowledge the ongoing care for Country that First Nations peoples do, and that the ongoing violence of settler colonialism is what causes destruction to our environment. We stand in solidarity with First Nations custodians of this land. Always was, Always will be, Aboriginal land.
