Ashwood banner drop - Where are the Libs on climate?

As the Victorian state election approaches, parties and candidates are announcing the Emissions Reduction Target they want to see set for 2035 in Victoria...

What 2035 Emissions Reduction Target will the Victorian Liberals commit to?

Join us at the Ashwood pre-poll booth in the first week of pre-poll to put the question to Liberal MP for Ashwood, Asher Judah: What Victorian Emissions Reduction Target will the Victorian Liberals set for 2035?

We’ll be taking a photo at the booth with a banner and gathering signatures for our petition that asks the Victorian Liberals to announce an ambitious 2035 target.

A bit of background info:

The Victorian Greens and several climate-focused independent candidates have committed to a target of net-zero emissions by 2035: a science-based target which aligns with the goal of keeping global warming below 1.5C.

The Andrews Labor government has announced that if returned to power in November at the Victorian State Election, it will set targets for Victoria of:

  • 95% renewable energy by 2035
  • 75-80% emissions reduction by 2035
  • Move the state target of net-zero emissions forward from 2050 to 2045

The question now for the Victorian Liberal Party is whether it commits to matching, or exceeding, the Andrews government’s game-changing targets ahead of the election.

A commitment to match, or exceed, the Labor government's new climate targets from the Victorian Liberals would be welcomed by the families, small businesses and communities around the state who are already dealing with the costs of intensifying climate impacts.

Will you join us to call on Asher Judah and the Victorian Liberals to match (or beat!) these 2035 targets?
