Sustainable Cities has a new Community Organiser to lead the Better Buses campaign, and get a faster, more reliable and well connected bus network in Melbourne's Western suburbs.
After a few months of quiet, Sustainable Cities is back in action, working on the Better Buses campaign to secure commitments from MPs and candidates ahead of the Victoria state election to reform the bus network in Melbourne's Western suburbs. We would like to welcome Elyse Cunningham, who has joined the collective in the community organiser role. After working for a climate NFP, campaigning on issues related to extreme heat in Australian cities, she joins our team with an organising background and passion for working on climate related issues. She has a background in International Studies and works alongside FoE at an NGO that tackles disarmament and demilitarisation issues in the Pacific.
Elyse and the Sustainable Cities collective will be working with communities, supporting local campaigns to ensure that hardworking communities in the West have access to fast, reliable, well-connected buses, serviced by a fleet of clean, electric vehicles.
Keep an eye out over the coming months for collective meetings, community forums and action days as we accelerate and re-energise this powerful collective.
