The Act on Climate collective at Friends of the Earth (FoE) are visiting coastal communities across Vic to discuss experiences of climate impacts with people on the frontline of erosion, sea level rise and offshore gas extraction.
In Torquay, folks from Surfrider and Friends of the Earth will meet to chat about local observations, concerns and efforts towards climate solutions.
This event is part of the Climate Impacts Road Trips 2023 which is a series of listening tours happening across the state, starting with the West Vic coast.
Through these road trips FoE aims build relationships of solidarity with impacted communities, amplifying frontline calls for action and solutions & highlight the links between the impacts already being experienced and the climate crisis.
We invite FoE and Surfrider supporters to come together for this open evening of yarning.
The demand for disaster response preparation and adapting to a changing climate is guiding our work in supporting solutions proposed by impacted communities. Local coastal groups are already acting to resist climate affects through tracking receding coastlines, observing the changing landscape and speaking up on these issues.
We believe that right now is a critical time to be building resilience and solidarity across the climate movement
