Japanese owned J-Power and Sumitomo industries want to use Victoria's brown coal to produce hydrogen in the Latrobe Valley for export to Japan. WAIT, WHAT? WON'T THIS PRODUCE AROUND 730,000 CARS WORTH OF CLIMATE POLLUTION EACH YEAR, you ask? Yes, and that is why they plan the biggest carbon capture and storage (CCS) project attempted to offset emissions, ignoring the fact that not a single CCS project has been shown to work anywhere in the world.
Join us for this rally on the steps of Parliament to say no to this or any other new coal projects at this threshold of dangerous climate change.
If you can't make it please sign our petition to oppose this project.
