Friends of the Earth's Nuclear Free Collective emblematic art auction is back! Join us this Friday June 30 at Catalyst Social Centre 146 Sydney Rd Coburg for a great night full of wonderful art, music and fun.
The viewing of the art works starts Friday evening June 30 at 5 pm and the actual auction will start at 7pm, with a silent auction on the smaller works from 8.30 til 9.30pm. During the whole night there will be live music performances. No need to RSVP, just show up. Have a look at the art auction catalogue with all art works and the program.
25 years since the emblematic Jabiluka blockade coincides with a the reckless decision to join the AUKUS military pact with nuclear powered submarines, which brings a very real risk of international nuclear waste dumps and excuses for a domestic nuclear industry in Australia. The auction will celebrate decades of nuclear resistance, while raising vital funds for our national nuclear-free campaign work.
For over forty years Friends of the Earth Nuclear Free Collective has been an important part of a passionate national and international alliance that's working at all stages of the nuclear chain to protect country and community from this toxic industry.
Currently much of our work involves supporting Traditional Owners and local communities in the firing line for a national nuclear waste dump in South Australia, opposing the AUKUS deal and its radioactive consequences, help building pressure for Australia to sign the Nuclear Ban Treaty, countering the ongoing propaganda for and misinformation about nuclear power, as well as fighting to stop the development and reopening of uranium mine in Western and South Australia.
If you are not in a position to buy art, just come and hand out, listen to some great music and have a drink. We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
