On the first sitting day of 2024, 6 February Act on Climate and others from Friends of the Earth were on the steps of parliament to ensure building a Climate Ready Vic is top of VIC MPs' minds.
Climate impacts are being felt across Victoria. Climate action is more important than ever, and Victoria needs to continue to lead the nation both on mitigation and climate disaster readiness that protects communities and ecosystems.
Our Climate Ready Vic proposal is a suite of policies that we think will make sure we put our best foot forward to face a new climate reality, and make sure no one is left behind as we transition from reliance on fossil fuels and adapt to the climate conditions of the 21st century.
We put these asks in the hands of politicians on the way in to parliament on the first sitting day of the year, in addition to sharing them with the public passing by.
Act on Climate was there with others from Friends of the Earth to get building a Climate Ready Vic on the agenda for 2024 and to let VIC MPs know what the community wants to see funded by this year's state budget.
Remember, you're always welcome to join Act on Climate's weekly meetings. Our organising and action meetings will take place on the alternative fortnight to the Organising Training Workshops.
All weeks include dinner. Register here for an upcoming Tuesday.

We acknowledge that the lands we meet and work on across so called Victoria are stolen from First Nations people. There can be no climate justice without justice for First Nations communities everywhere. Solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people under settler colonialism in so called Australia is critical in the fight for liberation from all oppressive systems that devalue and exploit people and the environment.
