Demand a proper environmental assessment of ExxonMobil's activities in Corner Inlet

Call on Sonya Kilkenny to protect the ecosystems and communities of Corner Inlet!

Corner Inlet is home to a vast array of endemic and migratory species. The local fishery is one of the best managed in the world and sustains whole communities. Vast seagrass beds stretch across the sandy floor and the inlet is ringed by protected wetlands.

Any industrial activity in this delicate area must be subject to an EES.

ExxonMobil's decommissioning campaign is the first of its size to occur in Australia. In coming years, more and more offshore infrastructure will need to be decommissioned. Any decisions made here in Victoria will set precedents for all future decommissioning. Victoria's Minister for Planning has the power and the responsibility to get it right.

ExxonMobil has a miserable environmental record - they recorded three hydrocarbon spills in the Bass Strait in 2024 alone - and a long history of orchestrating disinformation campaigns globally. They claim their activities in Corner Inlet do not require an EES. The Victorian Government would be irresponsible to allow the multinational to proceed with their plans without rigorous government oversight.
