Earlier this month Friends of the Earth Melbourne teamed up with ActionSkills and Reclamation Artists Warehouse to present 3 days of grassroots directed Digital Campaigning skills. The content covered campaign strategy, affecting effective digital pathways, social media implementation and digital story telling.
Some of the guest facilitators included talented folks from FoEM's Quit Coal collective, CounterAct and Front Line Action on Coal. All facilitators donated their time, and participants only payed a small registration fee ($10 per day) for food and logistics supplies.
Participants included activists campaigning in the field of indigenous, refugee, climate, unionist and forest activism - providing a unique opportunity for the space to facilitate intersectional collaboration in the future.
It is hoped that this training can become and annual event to ensure that grassroots activists have the opportunity to share their digital skills and ensure that the online space is used in the most effective way for real change.
