In June 2022 the Victorian Government released the Victorian Gas Substitution Roadmap, which promised to define a pathway out of Victoria's heavy gas use. While groundbreaking in acknowledging many of the issues with fossil gas it falls short of committing Victoria to the deep cuts to our dependency on this climate polluting fossil fuel needed to reduce the impact of climate change.
So we wrote our own. Be part of this event where we chart a clear path to rapidly transition Victoria off the bulk of our gas use in an orderly and just transition.
Hosted by Freja Leonard, No More Gas campaign coordinator for Friends of the Earth Melbourne, hear from a panel of experts including:
- Alan Pears, AM, is an environmental consultant, and a pioneer of energy efficiency policy in Australia since the late 1970s
- Yaraan Couzens Bundle is a Gunditjmara Whale Dreaming Custodian and Coordinator of the Southern Ocean Protection Embassy Collective (SOPEC)
- Mark Zirnsac, social justice advocate, Uniting Church of Australia
Printed copies of the Community Gas Retirement Roadmap will be available free of charge at the venue.
