Weekly Flyering at BHP

Right now, we have a window of opportunity to force Australia’s biggest polluting companies to pull their weight on climate action…

Will the Albanese government choose to Safeguard Our Climate, or protect polluter profits?

Join us for one of our weekly flyering sessions out the front of BHP. We'll demonstrate to BHP that we're watching them and the rest of the Dirty Dozen polluters closely, as the Albanese government prepares to impose stronger emissions cuts on their operations.

Context

The Albanese Government was elected with a mandate to reform and strengthen Australia’s ‘Climate Safeguard Mechanism’ to deliver deep emissions cuts from large industrial polluters this decade.

The Dirty Dozen Polluters, Australia's largest coal and gas companies, are expected to lobby the federal government to let them dodge real climate action and get away with avoiding strong emissions cuts.

The community's voice is urgently needed as a counterweight to the Dirty Dozen Polluters' lobbying. The Albanese government needs to see that the community is sick and tired of these companies being let off the hook when it comes to their responsibilities to act on the climate crisis.

Join us and our friends from other Melbourne/Narrm-based climate action groups, and flyer outside BHP to shine a light on the company as one of the Dirty Dozen Polluters.

How the action will work

When you arrive, we'll have flyers for you to hand out to people passing by and workers heading into the BHP office. The aim is to communicate with workers and the public about BHP's position as one of the Dirty Dozen polluters, and the need for the Albanese government to crack down on these polluters by imposing strong emissions reduction targets on them under a strengthened Climate Safeguard Mechanism.

If you aren't able to make it on a Tuesday, but would like to flyer some other time, please let us know and we'll arrange to get the materials to you.

This action will take place on Wurundjeri country. Sovereignty was never ceded, this always was and always will be Aboriginal land. There can be no true climate justice without First Nations justice.
