Join Benny Zable outside the National Gallery on World Environment Day

IMG_8843.jpegOn Friday 5th June 2026 - World Environment Day - long term and well known peace and environmental activist will perform at 12 noon in the Melbourne Arts precinct outside the NGV in Swanston street.

You are welcome to join him.

Benny reminds us of Sir David Attenbough warnings to the world on his 100th birthday:

"In the last 150 years, the world has warmed on average by just over 1 degrees celsius, and our atmosphere now concentrations of carbon dioxide that have not been equalled for millions of years.

We are today perilously close to tipping points that once past will send global temperatures spiralling catastrophically higher.

If we continue along our current path, we face the collapse of everything that gives us our security:

Food production, access to fresh water, habitable ambient temperature and ocean food chains.

And if the natural world can no longer support the most basic of our needs, then much of the rest of civilization will break down.

Please make no mistake, Climate change is the biggest threat to security that modern humans have ever faced".

The action

Benny intends to start from Camp Sovereignty (Camp Sovereignty is located in King's Domain (near Linlithgow Avenue) on the south side of the Yarra River.

On friday morning he will walk from the Camp to the NGV, to arrive there just before midday.

This will be filmed as part of a documentary being made by Wombat City Studios titled The Protester. (A history of protesting actions).
