Threatened Species Parliament

Threatened_species_parliament_Sept_2018.jpgVictoria’s threatened species are in crisis, logging in critically important habitats is pushing rare animals and plants further towards extinction.

Join us at Parliament reserve (opposite parliament station) after National Threatened Species Day to call on the state government to protect forests from logging and get behind the push for a new suite of strong national nature laws.

This fun, theatrical, creative and colourful event will highlight the need for all Victorian MPs to act for threatened species.

We’ll create the first ever Threatened Species Parliament with 88 Victorians each representing a member of the Victorian Parliament who is allocated a threatened animal, plant or forest community.

Our political leaders are failing to act for forest dependent threatened species. So we’re convening a Threatened Species Parliament to table a Bill Against Extinction.

This creative, colourful and fun action will highlight how the Victorian parliament is so far failing forest-dependent threatened species and call on them to take action to protect our state’s threatened flora and fauna by supporting the Bill Against Extinction.

We need 88 volunteers to take part and play the role of a member of parliament, plus plenty more to fill the ‘public gallery’
