Friends of the Earth have criticised the senate inquiry into wind energy, branding it a witch-hunt and part of an ongoing campaign to demonise the technology (final report available here).

A new Friends of the Earth analysis finds wind farms within 100 kilometres of the nation’s Parliament have delivered hundreds of jobs and millions worth of investment for communities, all while cutting pollution.

The Australian and Senator John Madigan aren’t even pretending the current senate wind energy inquiry is impartial. Both have referred to the Senate Select Committee on Wind Turbines as an “inquisition.”

Despite the fact that the Australian senate conducted an inquiry into wind energy in 2011, senators with a track record opposing wind farms (such as Sen. John Madigan), have established another inquiry into the technology.
