Gasfield Free Seaspray reports:

"After weeks of surveying by our tireless volunteers we can declare that 98% of Seaspray residents want our patch to remain gas field free!



To celebrate we're making a HUGE Human sign on Seaspray Beach, with a barbie and bands to boot!"

There was a huge event on sunday July, 28, and Seaspray has become the second VIC town to declare itself
gasfield free. Such an inspiring
effort by the locals.

Farmland not Gasfields

Most of Gippsland’s farmland is under exploration for coal, Coal seam gas (CSG), Tight or Shale gas.

The Energy Minister Nick Kotsiras has the power to declare any land off limits to coal and gas mining under the Minerals Act.

2013 – time to stop the onshore coal and gas industry in Victoria

In 2012, community concern about the threat of new coal and gas operations, especially coal seam gas (CSG), pushed the state government to ban the use of dangerous BTEX chemicals and place a moratorium on the process of fracking for gas.

Coal Seam Gas - a threat to Basin Rivers

In the last few weeks, the impact of Coal Seam Gas (CSG) mining on Murray-Darling Basin rivers has become a whole lot clearer - and a whole lot more worrying.

We commissioned independent testing of "treated" water being discharged from a Santos CSG mining operation in NW NSW. Toxic chemicals in the Bohena Creek just downstream from this discharge were excessively high - ammonia levels were 3 times the safe level for drinking water.
