We all know that snow gums are visually stunning - from their rainbow-striped bark to their twisty branches. They're already living works of art - and we want to celebrate them with human-made art! 

Join us for a Snow Gum Art Auction where you can browse beautiful artworks & place bids on your favourite photos or paintings while you enjoy some drinks, snacks, nature poetry & beautiful background music to support FoE Forests Collective's snow gum campaign! We'll also be hosting the Dingo Conservancy, who will be debuting a brilliant short film about Alpine Dingoes featuring wildlife biologist Dr. Daniel Hunter, as well as screening a snow gum themed short film by the Forests Collective's own Christina Ding.

Come along to our next Forests Collective meeting!

Forests Collective is a space for new volunteers to actively join Friends of the Earth's forest & biodiversity campaigns. 

The next Collective meeting will happen Wednesday September ,  6pm-7pm online via Zoom.  

At our September meeting we will: 

• Welcome new volunteers!
• Get involved in our campaign to list Snow Gums as threatened under federal environment law. 
• Plan our Snow Gum art show fundraiser
• Help biodiversity recover from the 2026 bushfires by planning to attend tree planting efforts & build habitat boxes alongside regional community groups. 
• Discuss opportunities for solidarity with First Peoples caring for forested cultural landscapes.
• Sign up to help our forest movement allies host film screenings & mobilise key electorates to close logging loopholes before the state election.

Over the second half of August, community members gathered on mountains across the Victorian, NSW and ACT Alps to conduct citizen science surveys of snow gum forests.

This happened as part of our ongoing campaign to get snow gums listed as a threatened species under federal environment laws, which is vital for the government attention and funding needed to advance protection efforts.

Now that the winter surveys are over, we invite people to join us for a short debrief session. We're keen to understand how people went conducting their surveys out in the field, and gather any feedback and ideas. All citizen science survey organisers, anyone who participated in a survey, and anyone interested in being part of the second wave of surveys we will conduct this summer.

Join us on Wednesday September 30 at 6:30 for an hour on zoom to debrief and discuss what's next.
