The momentum around getting adequate and ongoing funding for climate adaptation continues! This month, we've had our first round of community members meeting their MPs to pass on our Climate Resilience Inquiry report and talk about local adaptation needs. We're also launching our Australian Climate Adaptation Map, which displays climate adaptation initiatives underway across Australia! It's not too late to set up a meeting with your MP (reply to this email for more info!) or to RSVP to our online and in-person Climate Adapt Map Storytelling Launch tonight! And it's easy to quickly fire off our pre-filled MP email if you haven't already. Interested in getting one of the inspiring climate adaptation initiatives on our map going in your area? How can VIC communities adapt to now unavoidable climate impacts? How do they want to adapt? What does community-led climate adaptation look like? Find out in our new report, VIC Climate Resilience Inquiry Analysed: The leading concerns & adaptation solutions, which uses the data from Resilience Inquiry submissions to show the most mentioned climate impacts of concern and the most called for climate adaptation solutions. Then, ask your MP to advocate for increased funding of these solutions using our pre-written email. More being invested in climate adaptation was the number one action called for in the submissions to the VIC Government's Inquiry into Climate Resilience. This was strongly appealed for in submissions by councils, organisations, and community members alike, with 83.75% of submissions saying more funding is essential. Adequate funding of climate adaptation is needed to keep people, Country and infrastructure safe from the risks presented by locked-in climate impacts. Email a copy of this report to your State MP sharing Victorians' strong appeal for adequate funding of climate adaptation

Adaptation Alliance Call 5: Engaging MPs & Media
On our 5th Climate Adaptation Activator call last week we explored ways to engage the media, elected officials, and our communities in order to progress climate adaptation initiatives. We also discussed important messaging when talking about climate adaptation and how we can build connection and conversation around climate adaptation in Victoria together through potential joint actions and an online presence.

What a year it's been campaigning on climate adaptation! AoC has been:
- facilitating grassroots discussions on climate adaptation in communities,
- engaging Vic Gov to secure more funding for locally-led solutions, and
- collecting and sharing examples of what preparing for climate impacts can look like to inspire Vic communities to start local initiatives that will keep people and Country safe.
Our beautiful banner made its way to all of the regional Vic Resilience Inquiry hearings and a Melbourne one to show support for our Vic Community Climate Adaptation Fund (VCCAF). We now wait for the recommendations. Did you know:
- 83.7% of submissions called for increased funding in climate adaptation,
- 49.6% called for ongoing funding, and
- over a third (39.6%) called for our VCCAF specifically?
You can add your support for the fund here. We'll continue our push for adequate and ongoing funding for climate adaptation in the new year.
