Friend's of the Earth Melbourne campaigns for a rapid transition away from fossil fuels. Quit Coal's new Energy Justice campaign also calls for a radical shift in the way our society and economy works. We want new, clean energy sources to be primarily for the benefit of the community and the planet, not big multinationals.
As part of FoE's Winter Talks series, this session considers how energy democracy and alternative models of ownership can address climate change, create dignified work and close deep inequalities.
This evening will explore ideas around the democratization of our energy system. You’ll hear about models of public ownership and community-owned and community-controlled energy.
There will be a section of speakers from Unions, the Earthworker cooperative and other groups fighting for change in this space.
All welcome, food and drinks on donation.
