Politics in the Paddock: Meet the Act on Climate Collective!

How can we put climate action on the Victorian State Election agenda?

Friends of the Earth's Act on Climate Vic collective has been campaigning for Victoria to become the national leader on climate action since 2017. With a state election approaching in November 2022, the time is ripe for us to begin putting strong climate action front and centre of the agenda for all candidates and political parties.

Passionate community campaigns in Victoria have seen us make significant gains for climate action at the state level… but we have a lot of work to do to secure strong policies to tackle the climate crisis, drive a just transition, and protect ecosystems.

Join us down on the Merri Creek at the beautiful Joe's Market Garden to gather round the fire, kick back to the sweet tunes of some local musicians with a coffee and pastry, and hear about our upcoming campaign plans including how you can get involved!

No prior knowledge or experience needed. Just a passion for environmental justice and community action.

Food and Drink: The legends at Joe's Market Garden will be selling hot drinks, pastries, and farm-fresh toasted sandwiches out of the coffee van, with vegan and GF options available. They'll also be selling produce from the farm, so bring a shopping bag if you need to grab some veggies!

Music: Local band TBC to welcome us in with some mellow morning tunes.

Wet weather plan: We'll have an undercover area to hang out if it's raining. However, if it's really going to be pouring down and looking a bit miserable, we'll have a second location option.

STAYING COVID SAFE: This event will be outdoors, with undercover shelter available, at Joe's Market Garden on the Merri Creek. It is open-air so will be as well-ventilated as it gets! However, we recommend that people wear masks if they cannot socially distance. Masks and hand sanitiser will be available for attendees.

Friends of the Earth acknowledge that this event will take place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri people. Sovereignty was never ceded, and fighting for First Nations justice must always be a core part of climate justice work.
