Melbourne people's transport vision workshop

Friends of the Earth Melbourne and Transport4Everyone would like to invite you to a special meeting to collaboratively develop a Sustainable Community Transport Plan for Melbourne.

Melbourne is in the middle of a transport planning nightmare.  Labor have committed over $23 billion to megaroad projects that won’t ease congestion, instead causing transport, health and amenity nightmares for suburbs across Melbourne.  Everytime a new road is built, or existing roads are widen, they fill with more traffic.

The approval of more megaroad projects displays a gross institutional failure.  Corporations are dictating our planning processes, delivering infrastructure projects that line their own pockets without offering true solutions to Melbourne's transport problems.

Now the community are going to take action into their own hands.  We have to do what governments have failed to, to disrupt the politics of transport policy in our city.  We're going to bring together Melbourne's best transport academics, community groups, unions, manufacturers and road users to devise our own community transport action plan. Then we're going to throw it out to test it for broader community support in a huge grassroots community and civil society consultation process during 2018.

Community solutions will put livability, jobs, health and the environment first.
