Adaptation Alliance Call 10: Resilience Case Studies

On our 10th Climate Adaptation Activator call we looked at the climate adaptation case studies highlighted in the Climate Resilience Inquiry as examples that have built local resilience.

Here's all the info, ideas and solidarity shared on the call, as well as some upcoming events and resources...

On the call, we looked at three case studies highlighted in the Climate Resilience Inquiry and what we can learn from them:

  1. Enhancing Community Resilience Project
  2. Climate Safe Rooms
  3. NSW & QLD’s Resilient Homes Scheme

These case studies showed:

  • the importance of recognising those most at risk and of co-design
  • the importance of documenting and sharing findings
  • collaborations with gov, companies, and researchers can bolster projects
  • demonstrating clear multiple benefits, e.g. improved health and saving money, helps gains support
  • pilot good way to test and prove effective for replication
  • statewide programs increase reach (but local context needed)
  • collaboration between State and Fed Gov to fund
  • retrofitting existing homes is vital
  • the need to build back better

We then all explored some questions around progressing climate adaptation in our own communities. Ask yourself these questions and let us know your answers - we would love to hear them and support you however we can!:
