Treaty debate this week

FPAV0485_Ally_social_media_tiles_FA-01.jpgThis is a big week for Treaty in Victoria, with the state-wide Treaty being debated in the Victorian Parliament from Tuesday morning.

This a key time for ally organisations to activate in support of Treaty.

The following information comes from the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria (FPAV) and explains how you can show your active support for the Treaty process. While the ALP, Greens, Animal Justice Party and Legalise Cannabis Victoria all support Treaty it is important that we pressure the Coalition to also show support for the process in parliament.

Here’s how you can show your support for Treaty over the coming week:

Now:

Now is your last chance to amplify our Contact your MP campaign before Lower House MPs debate Treaty legislation next week.

We have set up a platform here enabling users to email their local MP using an easy template.

How ally organisations can support:

Write, email, call and meet with your MP as individuals and as an organisation

Share our campaign with your audiences using these social media tiles (remember to include this link)

Order or pick up some ‘I support Treaty’ postcards

This week:

The Parliamentary sitting week begins on Tuesday October 14, when Co-Chairs of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, Rueben Berg and Ngarra Murray, will speak on the floor of parliament to mark this historic moment.

This is not open to members of the public, but allies can show their support on this historic day by:

Watching the Co-Chair’s Parliamentary speeches with your workmates, community, friends and family via Watch - Parliament of Victoria

Taking a solidarity photo with our ‘I support Treaty’ placards and show your support digitally with our Treaty supporter kit

Share the FPAV ‘I support Treaty’ social media post
