Crafternoon: The true history of the Dirty Dozen

Join us at the Friends of the Earth space to get your craft on! Instead of our usual Tues evening meeting we will zip through the necessities and then get making together.

Channel your creativity to help expose one of the Dirty Dozen Polluters: Australia's largest coal and gas polluting companies, who are expected to lobby the federal government to let them dodge real climate action and get away with avoiding making the strong emissions cuts we need to see this decade.

Why are we doing this?

At the end of last year, community members visited the offices of the Dirty Dozen polluters to deliver a letter which called on them to support a strengthened Climate Safeguard Mechanism: the policy that the Albanese government is currently reforming and is our big chance to crack down on the big polluters' emissions.

During our visit to on of these companies (which one? to be revealed...) we discovered that they have a huge display in their lobby proudly showcasing historic artefacts that gloss over their polluting history.

We feel the need to refresh the company's memory and fill in the gaps on their memorabilia wall with some props that represent the damage and destruction they have caused to our climate and communities.

Whether you have an interest in art, creative skills to contribute in making or just keen to give prop making a go, we invite you to help us build the memorabilia for a special hamper that we'll deliver which represents the company's true history.

We will provide snacks, drinks and music to assist you in your creative flow.

This action will take place on Wurundjeri country. Sovereignty was never ceded, this always was and always will be Aboriginal land. There can be no true climate justice without First Nations justice.
