CounterAct trains and supports communities to take effective, creative, strategic action on issues of environmental and social justice.
Across the country we are seeing a growing network of concerned citizens taking on large multinationals and government to defend their right to clean air, water, a safe climate and environment, and for social justice. Since 2012 we have trained thousands of activists for nonviolent action and to run their own campaigns.
We provide training in nonviolent action skills, campaigning and community organising across Australia, as well as providing mentoring and developing resources for public use.
We aim to increase capacity and skills amongst grassroots activists whilst encouraging a culture of skill sharing, on-training and making activism accessible for everyday people.
We have run workshops for, and collaborated with The Wilderness Society, Quit Coal, Australian Youth Climate Coalition, 350.org, Leard Forest Alliance, Friends of the Earth, Frontline Action on Coal, Lock the Gate, Broome No Gas, the East West tunnel campaign, No to WestConnex, The Centre for Australian Progress and others.
We support campaigns in defence of country and culture, advocating for forests, wetlands and threatened species, protecting farmland and groundwater from unconventional gas, and working for climate justice.
CounterAct acknowledges the traditional aboriginal custodians of the many nations across this country, and aims to work respectfully with traditional owners in the course of our projects. We are a proud affiliate member of Friends of the Earth and work to protect the natural environment, and for social justice.
