HELP MARK A CLIMATE CHANGE MILESTONE AND CALL FOR MORE ACTION!
The strengthened Victorian Climate Change Act takes effect on Wednesday 1 November and brings the state's climate laws inline with the Paris Agreement.
Environment groups such as Environmental Justice Australia, Environment Victoria, ACF, and Friends of the Earth helped secure this outcome.
But with the Federal govt beholden to ideologues on the hard right, there's little prospect of Federal action on climate. This failure leaves Victorians exposed toclimate impacts such as increasing heatwaves, bushfires, drought, and crop failure.
It's essential to see Victoria stand up and lead the way on climate change.
We're gathering on the steps of Parliament House to mark Victoria's progress to date, and to call for the government and opposition to build on the momentum.
Join us on Wedneday 1 November to show politicians that the community wont rest on its laurels when it come to climate change!
Speakers will present their ideas for how Victoria can act on climate from a rural, youth, worker, and environment group perspective.
- Please arrive from 10:30am. Speakers will kick off from 10:45am. The event will wrap by 11:20am.
