National Day to Replace Hazelwood

On Saturday, July 17 we’re asking you to join with us in community actions across Australia calling on Kevin Rudd to make a commitment to Replace Hazelwood with clean energy by 2012.

FoE is organising an event in South Melbourne.

The campaign to Replace Hazelwood, Australia's dirtiest power station, is going from strength to strength.

But to win this campaign we need a commitment from both the Victorian state government AND the Federal Government.

There have been lots of actions across the state putting pressure on the Victorian Government to act, and we need to keep this going. But now, we need your help to bring this campaign on to the national agenda.

On Saturday, July 17 we’re asking you to join with us in community actions across Australia calling on Julia Gillard to make a commitment to Replace Hazelwood with clean energy by 2012.

FoE event in South Melbourne

In South Melbourne we will be leafleting and talking with people on saturday morning:
Outside the Commonwealth Bank, 277 Clarendon St (corner of Dorcas street)
From 10 am – midday.

There will be an information stall and leaflets to hand out. Bring placards if you have them.
Please come along, meet others active in climate campaigning, and have a chat with shoppers about how it is possible to close Hazelwood and replace it with a mix of clean energy and energy efficiency.
Organised by Friends of the Earth.
